Chris Lighty Dead 2012, Hip Hop Star Shot Himself
Chris Lighty has been declared dead on Thursday morning (August 30, 2012) after shooting himself admidst an argument with his ex-wife Veronica Lighty, reports said. Police found him at 11:30 a.m. in his Bronx apartment with a gunshot to his head in his Bronx apartment. Some sources declared his death as suicide however, it is still being investigated before any conclusion is released. Tributes have started pouring in through Twitter and Facebook.
Lighty is the founder of Violator Management and reportedly had over $5 million in debt to the IRS. He may have been dealing with financial difficulties.
The hip hop mogul has greatly influenced the hip hop industry and was the longtime manager of hip hop stars including Sean "Diddy" Combs, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, and Ja Rule.
"R.I.P CHRIS LIGHTY THE MAN THAT SAVED MY LIFE. I Would Be Nothing Without YOU!!! My Kids Appreciate YOU God Bless Chris Lighty. ," rapper Fat Joe tweeted.
Scooter Braun also tweeted his condolences. "Hard to believe it is true but RIP to my friend Chris Lighty. gone too soon."
One touching tweet is from Rah Digga, whom he mentored in the past. "Chris Lighty was everything to me in my Flipmode years. So busy rescuing others sorry we couldn't rescue you. You will be missed brother..."
An incredible amount of messages flooded Twitter to mourn Lighty's death.
The last words that Lighty tweeted was on August 28, 2012 and it read: "Life is about perspective. It's not what you see, but how you see it. What you see is what you get."
Lighty is survived by his 6-year-old son Jaden and ex-wife Veronica with whom he divorced last year.
