'Sam & Cat' And 'iCarly' Star Jennette McCurdy Talks "Raw" Netflix Role In 'Between' - Says She's Grown Up Since Ariana Grande Nickelodeon Series
After a series of rumors about a reported feud with songstress Ariana Grande and a very public breakup with NBA boyfriend Andre Drummond, actress Jennette McCurdy has shed her Nickelodeon image for a more adult, mature role in Netflix's new original series, Between. In a new interview this week, the young star explained that her Sam & Cat and iCarly days are behind her as she looks forward to more serious roles in her career.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new series is the first Netflix series ordered in Canada, and tells the story of a town plagued by a disease that wipes out everyone over the age of 21 years old. McCurdy is set to lead the young cast. This is clearly a huge step away from her Nickelodeon shows.
In a new interview this week with The Hollywood Reporter, Jennette explains that she's stumbled into adulthood now that she's worked on a more serious show.
"I'm going back home next week, and I've grown a lot," she said, referring to the end of the 6-week shoot on Between. "I've had this personal arc. I come from the set to home, and I feel like I've emotionally released myself. It's a way to get out emotions that you may put on the back burner and put aside to act a certain role to your fans."
She added: "In some ways, I don't want them (friends and family) to watch. It's very raw. And I'm sure, whether or not I want them to watch, they will watch the show. I feel Between is really perfect. A lot of the kids that watched iCarly and Sam & Cat are getting older. This fits the bill. Already my more intense fans are very excited and eagerly awaiting the series."
