Phillies 2B Chase Utley Surprises Sick Fan On Ellen DeGeneres Show, MLB Star Offers Her Unlimited Access To Games In Great Gesture [WATCH]
Julie Kramer is a 23-year-old woman battling Stage 4 synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, and who made waves on the Internet recently for a video she posted of her charmingly dancing just hours after a recent surgery, according to NBC. Kramer is also a Philadelphia Phillies fan with a not-so-subtle crush on Phillies second baseman Chase Utley. This week, Kramer was a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she told her story. It was there that Utley made time to give the super fan a crazy surprise.
Utley appeared on stage and hugged Kramer, who upon seeing him, burst into tears. If that wasn't enough, Utley offered Kramer unlimited access to Citizens Bank Park next season, when she will be his "guest at as many games as you want."
"If you want to come to batting practice, come to batting practice, take a tour of the stadium," Utley said. "Whatever you want."
Utley has long been a fan favorite in Philadelphia, where he's played the entirety of his major league career. He drove in over 100 RBI for four straight seasons from 2005–2008, and won a World Series Championship in 2008.
DeGeneres obviously knew about the set-up. But true to form, she set up her guest gracefully, first asking her if she liked sports.
"I am a huge Philadelphia Phillies fan, I don't know if anyone is, but go Phillies!" Kramer said. Then Ellen asked her favorite player.
"Chase Utley," Kramer said. "Oh yes. Yes, yes, yes. Second base, Number 26. He's the man."
After a guesture like this, it's hard to disagree.
