Punk rockers Green Day were forced to cancel their appearance at Italy's I-Festival over the weekend after front man Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to the hospital after suddenly falling ill. Although no other specifics have yet to be released, local reports suggest that the "Oh Love" star had suffered from gastric problems.

Armstrong supposedly discharged himself from the Hospital Maggiore in Bologna on Monday.

Fellow Green Day members, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool, posted a video apologizing to fans on YouTube on Sunday. In the short clip the two explain that Armstrong's doctors advised him not to perform over the weekend.

Green Day is currently touring in support of their upcoming album trilogy - with "¡Uno!" set to be released on September 25,  "¡Dos!" on November 13, and "¡Tré!" on January 15 (2013).
