Seacrest told Parade Magazine that working on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve was a huge honor. Seacrest added that he ince asked Clark "'What is the key to making this show work?'"
The host replied "'Remember that a lot of people aren't going anywhere; you are bringing the party into their homes. You are making sure that they feel like they are a part of everything.'"
Clark also told Seacrest that, "'No one wants to hear your voice at 12 o' clock. All they want to do is listen to the sounds in Times Square and look at the faces. You can start talking at 12:02, but from 12:00 to 12:02, shut up.' I thought that was really funny - and right."
As The Washington Times point out, even though "Clark died in 2012, but the music-and-dance show he started in Philadelphia in 1952 and produced and hosted on national television from 1957 to 1989 changed the American music scene forever."
It also has a long, storied history of musical performers, explains the site, saying that "Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Doors, Kiss and Prince were among the many other icons that appeared on the show."
