Happy 2015! It's New Year's Day, and what better day to kick off 2015 than with college football playoff games! This year's Rose Bowl will be between Pac-12 Champions Oregon and ACC Champs Florida State University, as the 2nd ranked Ducks (12-1) take on the 3rd ranked Seminoles (13-0) at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. on New Year's Day, January 1 - and will be one of the biggest games of college football for 2015. Read on below for preview power rankings and to find out where you can watch and stream the bowl game and watch 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and last year's Heisman winner Jamies Winston go head to head.
The All State Sugar Bowl will feature two of college footballs powerhouse programs after Mariota and the Oregon Ducks beat the Arizona Wildcats 51-13 to win the Pac-12 title, while the FSU Seminoles and Winston will try to win the Rose Bowl and make it to the NCAA Championship Game on January 12 after their close 37-35 win over Georgia Tech in the ACC title game.
In Charles Davis's official Fox Sports NCAA college football power rankings, he has the Seminoles ranked No. 1, saying "Undefeated ACC champions, defending national champions -- and seeded third in the College Football Playoff?! Small comfort, FSU, but you remain No. 1 in this poll. Off to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and a date with Oregon in the playoff semifinals."
As for Oregon, Davis ranks them No. 3 in the Fox power rankings, saying: "A healthier offensive line and the best player in college football (my opinion) in QB Marcus Mariota, who was willing to use his skills as a runner more as the season rolled on, and you have a team that's in the College Football Playoff after having won the Pac-12 title over Arizona. They meet Florida State, and the whole country will be riveted by the QB duel between Mariota and Jameis Winston.
