'Boardwalk Empire' Movie - Mark Wahlberg Wants Martin Scorsese To Make Film Version Of HBO Series, Like 'Entourage'
Mark Wahlberg has already turned his incredibly successful HBO series Entourage into a movie, as we'll see in theaters in 2015, but now the Hollywood superstar and producer is looking at another series that recently ended - Boardwalk Empire. He produced this series with filmmaker and friend Martin Scorsese, and this week revealed that he wants to make it into a big screen feature sometime in the near future. He just has to talk it over with his Departed director first. But what about that series finale? How could a movie come out of that? Well, Wahlberg already has a plan for that! (SPOILERS to follow)
"My next goal now is to get the movie made and start talking to Martin Scorsese about directing it," Wahlberg told "Ralphie Tonight" radio show host Ralphie Aversa, according to NJ.com.
Obviously Wahlberg has a knack for producing quality entertainment. Besides Entourage and Boardwalk Empire, Wahlberg served as producer on a number of projects, including some he starred in, like The Fighter, Lone Survivor and more.
Fans of the recently concluded HBO drama might be scratching their heads over this movie idea though, considering how the series came to an end. (SPOILERS!)
"There's no Nucky, though," the radio host pointed out, but Wahlberg had a pretty promising reply.
"We can always go back," he said.
In other words, we can learn about the early life of Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), which we saw parts of in flashbacks during the HBO series' run. Marc Pickering mastered a young Nucky on the show, so could he become a movie star with this project?
