While The Flash is on its winter break on the CW network, plans are already underway for the upcoming second half of the first season Will Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) watch as his surrogate father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) do things he's "never done before?"

In our first recap, Barry (Gustin)was struck by lightning and thrown into a vat of chemicals, After the particle accelerator explosion, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) have been studying Barry's newfound super-speed powers. As the scarlet speedster, they have been helping fight against the metahumans, who use their powers to harm Central City.

During the first half of the season, Joe promised Barry he would look into his mother's murder. During the investigation, Joe met with the Reverse-Flash, who stole the case file and threatened his daughter, Iris West (Candice Patton). In the mid-season finale, the Reverse-Flash grabbed Joe's throat after killing his police force and warned him what would happen next.

The Rent actor has played a detective before on Law & Order. Partnered with Joe Fontana (Dennis Farina), Ed Green was much tougher and hardened that West. With his history of violence, Green had to give up his badge after killing someone for the woman he loves. Will Joe West have to enter Ed Green territory to save Iris West from danger?

In an interview with Detroit Free Press, Martin compares West to Green, "Law & Order was so very interesting to me because what I got to do was explore New York along with getting to work with some of the best actors New York City had to offer. I did that for 10 years, so as far as I am concerned that's done. Now, here I am in a whole new world, and I get to do things I've never done before."
