'The After' Pilot Axed: Arielle Kebbel, Adrian Pasdar, Chris Carter Drama Cancelled By Amazon! [WATCH]
Amazon Studios has decided to axe the next show from The X-Files creator, Chris Carter. After viewers had seen the pilot to the post-apocalyptic thriller, The After, which starred Adrian Pasdar, Arielle Kebbel, and Sharon Lawrence, has been cancelled by Amazon.
Aired in February 2014, The After follows Sharon Lawrence, Aldis Hodge, Andrew Howard, Kennedy, Pasdar, and Kiebbel played a trapped group trying to survive after an apocalyptic event. After seeking refuge, the group discovers they all have a mysterious connection to one another. The cliff-hanger suggests they were abducted by demons and sent to Hell.
According to Variety, Roy Price, veep of Amazon Studios, released a statement, "We have decided to not move forward with The After. We would like to thank Chris Carter, the phenomenal cast, crew and producers for all their efforts."
Though Amazon has offered no details why the cancellation order, the A.V. Club suggests the show's higher production costs and the salaries for the recognizable cast could have been a factor.
Amazon originally ordered this show, plus five other projects, to series after strong viewer feedback. Instead, the netcaster will focus its attention on Mozart in the Jungle, the Jeffrey Tambor show, Transparent, and the second season of Alpha House.
