'Empire' Star Taraji P. Henson On Love: Actress Says, 'Men Don't Court Anymore' While Covering Idris Elba Dating Rumors: Henson Says, 'I Ain't Fighting K. Michelle' [WATCH]
When it comes to love, Empire star Taraji P. Henson just wants to be treated the right way. Henson (Cookie Lyon), who stars as the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) in the new hit FOX show says men are not doing what they used to when it comes to dating a woman.
"I'm not dating right now. It's the same old story. It's hard to date." she adds, "Guys don't court anymore," during her appearance on The Wendy Williams Show this week. "Take me out to dinner! Say you're gonna pick me up at a certain time! Dating should be an event, you know? You like the guy, so you want to get pretty for him, so you spend all day, and the spark [ignites]. Whatever happened to that?"
"[Some of them] think that they can take you to Chipotle or griddle pancakes and then jump in the sack," Henson explains. She is currently single.
When it comes to Idris Elba, a lot of people probably thought there was a love connection during their time on the 2014 film, No Good Deed, but Henson quickly slammed those rumors.
"Me? Dating Idris Elba? I ain't fighting K. Michelle. That was a joke! That was a serious joke. No, I don't date guys that I work with," she says.
Henson, 44, has a relationship gone bad on the new show. She was left in prison, as Howard's character, Lucious raised their three sons ... but not alone, he had some help.
The actress previously worked with Howard back in 2005 in the hit film, 2005's Hustle & Flow.
In regards to working with her old pal, and co-star, Henson told Williams, "it's good to be back together."
Henson adds that she kind of had a part in getting Empire's, director, and producer, Lee Daniels to cast Howard for the part.
"When I opened up the script, I saw [Terrence] and I. I heard the words coming from his mouth," she claims. "I said to [Lee] — I didn't even have the job yet, and I said, 'So if you can make that work, hire Terrence, great. If not, good luck with the show.' "
If you missed the premiere, then don't change your dial when the next episode airs on FOX next Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.
