'Mythbusters' Season 13 Spoilers: Were Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara "Scarifices" Made For Show?

Before Season 13 of Discovery's Mythbusters was about to commence, viewers were shocked to hear about the dismissal of co-hosts Grant Imahara, Kari Byron, and Tory Belleci. Before the premiere, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman discussed the "sacrifices" made for the show's new direction.

As we previously mentioned, the science show will be going back to basics and shrink down the format to just two regular hosts. Imahara, Byron, Belleci have been let go and will not be returning this season. Viewers will only see Savage and Hyneman as the hosts debunking fact from fiction.

Transcribed by IGN, Savage discussed at the Television Critics Association how sad it was to see "The Build Team" go, "We loved Kari, Grant and Tory. That's primary. One of the things that over the 12 years MythBusters has been on, and any show with longevity goes through, is different stages, and you also look for ways to keep it fresh. One of the reasons we started breaking the fourth wall on the show was just because we found it exhausting to pretend it didn't exist."

Savage continues, "But one of the sacrifices that we've made over the years that we've gotten better at the storytelling, at the narrative, at the science of the show is that stories got more complex, and thus, the thing that was the original sort of exciting thing about MythBusters, which was the process of us making stuff, tended to get cut out."

We mentioned before, the season premiere tests out various scenarios from the hilarious Simpsons cartoon. If you throw a cherry bomb into the toilet, just like Bart did, will all toilets in the same room act like geysers? Though Homer remained intact, what would happen if an actual human body was hit by a wrecking ball?

Upcoming episodes this season will tackle myths from the Indiana Jones film franchise and AMC's Emmy-winning Breaking Bad.

The 13th season of Mythbusters begins Saturday January 10 at 9/8c on Discovery. Readers, are you excited to see how Adam and Jamie disprove/prove The Simpsons?
