South Korean rapper Psy's viral hit "Gangnam Style" has been viewed by a whomping 167 million YouTube users and counting. The 34-year-old took to the "Today" show stage on Friday to teach his signature "horse-inspired" dance moves to the popular NBC news anchor crew, but not without first stating that he's utterly shocked by how big "Gangnam Style" has blown up stateside.

"I didn't expect that at all. I just uploaded this video only for the Korean viewers in YouTube and suddenly, within 60 days, I'm here," Psy admitted to NBC's Savannah Guthrie before taking the stage to rock along with the jam-packed plaza.

While Psy made it as a successful rapper over a decade ago in his native South Korea, he admits that he feels he must start from scratch here in the U.S.:

"Thing is, I'm (a) rookie here now, so I got to do it all over again, like 12 years ago," he said.

"Gangnam Style" pokes fun at the rather "uppity" atmosphere that pervades the posh neighborhood Gangnam located in the South Korean capital of Seoul.

Psy, whose real name is Jae-Sang Park, recently explained on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" that the motto behind "Gangnam Style" is: "Dress classy and dance cheesy."

The "Gangnam Style" music video, which was uploaded onto YouTube back in July, has garnered 166,991,877 views as of this writing (more are soon to come after Psy's impressive "Today" show performance). Many big-name celebrities, including Britney Spears and Justin Bieber, have caught the "Gangnam Style" fever. Psy has even signed on with Biebs' manger, Scooter Braun. Looks like Psy has a good chance of making it even further in the U.S.A music industry, even given his initial shock and disbelief.

Check out the "Gangnam Style" "Today" show performance here, where anchors Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, and David Gregory attempt to learn the hip viral dance. (And yes, Psy insists that the idea behind the "Gangnam Style" dance was inspired by a horse).
