Kathy Bates Mastectomy Recovery: Cancer Survivor Tweets Updates [Details]

Kathy Bates just revealed that she underwent double Mastectomy in order to fight against her recent breast cancer diagnosis.  Bates is no stranger to cancer after surviving from ovarian cancer 9 years ago.  

The "Harry's Law" actress tweeted on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, " Hey All, sorry for the long silence. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 months ago & am recovering from a double mastectomy."

"I don't miss my breasts as much as I miss Harry's Law.  Thanks for all the sweet tweets. Y'all kept me going," she continued.  

Bates was missed by many of her fans and friends in the period where she was "missing in action."  The new discovery of her cancer diagnosis had fans concerned and supportive of her recovery process.

Bates also updated fans through a statement released through Speakeasy that read, "It's no secret that I am an ovarian cancer survivor, nine years and counting. But few know that several weeks ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After much consideration I underwent a double mastectomy."

"Luckily, I don't have to undergo radiation or chemo. My Family call me Kat because I always land on my feet and thankfully this is no exception. My doctors have assured me I'm going to be around for a long time. I'm looking forward to getting back to work doing what I love to do."
