Angela Bassett Defends Her Lifetime Biopic 'Whitney,' Director Says, 'Whitney And Bobby IMPACTED Each Other Greatly' [DETAILS]
It looks like Whitney director Angela Bassett is truly proud of the film she produced. MStars News previously reported that Bassett made her first directorial debut in the hit Lifetime film Whitney that premiered over the weekend, receiving top ratings.
Despite many viewers' positive comments on the movie, Houston's family was outraged and wrote a long statement regarding the biopic.

According to Bassett's tweets over the weekend, she seemed to be unbothered by the Houstons' comments and tweeted:
"#Whitney and Bobby IMPACTED each other greatly. I wanted to show that their LOVE was stronger than either of them knew it could be..."
In the film, Bassett covered the span of Whitney's marriage to Bobby Brown, her career during The Body Guard, and highlight's of Houston's greatest hits moments. Besides tweeting on the film, Bassett retweeted the love and support she received from her sorority sisters, Delta Sigma Theta, and actresses and singers like Kerry Washington, Niecy Nash and Janelle Monae.

Another person who seems to be proud of Angela's work is Houston's cousin Dionne Warwick.
According to The Indy Channel: ABC 6, Bassett revealed that she received a round of applause from Warwick.
Bassett revealed that she was watching the biopic with Warwick as Bassett claims:
"It turned out wonderfully. She was pleased with the story and with how we told it and that made me pleased ... She clapped and said, 'Thank you,' and, 'This will be a good thing.'"
