'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Recap Season Four Finale 'Curtain Call': How Did It All End?
Come one, come all to the greatest show on Earth ... Dandy Mott's Cabinet of Curiosities? Yup, that's right, all you American Horror Story: Freak Show fans, there's a new sheriff in town and he goes by the name Dandy. Elsa Mars has packed her bags and headed west with the dreams of becoming a star, while Dandy has stayed behind to look after her troupe of misfits.

But during the season finale of the fourth installment of the horror anthology, it seems the phrase "taking care of them," has a double meaning. While Dandy tries to set up his new show with the tagline "Charismatic Crooner Dandy Mott sings Cole Porter," he is met with a lot of resistance from the gang of freaks.
I mean, we can't really blame them. No offense to the great Cole Porter, but we're sure no one wants to see Dandy prancing around the stage belting out some show tunes.
With the Freak show soon to become where Broadway songs go to die, the freaks decide to quit, but little do they know it's about to be the last thing they do.
Dandy stomps the Freak Show yard and literally takes each freak out one by one with his golden gun. Just call him James Bond because this gun kills the freaks in one shot.
As we watched some of our not-so-favorite remaining freaks get gunned down, we couldn't help but wonder if this was just a ploy to tie up their storylines in the end. After all, it was the first time seeing some of Dandy's victims.
The only ones to survive the massacre are the only notable characters left: Jimmy, Desiree and Bette and Dot. While the girls are tied up in a tent, Des and Jimmy discover that Dandy has littered the corpses of the freaks around in the main tent.
The three devise a plan to get rid of Dandy, which involves a fake wedding and some drugging, and no, that isn't so Dot and Bette can have their way with Dandy on their wedding night. Instead, the trio is working together to give the crazed freak killer the show of his life, with him as the star.
Des, Jim and B&D put Dandy inside a glass tube, similar to that of Harry Houdini. Only difference is that while Houdini escaped, Dandy won't have the same luxury. As the tank fills up with water, the three gather around and look on as they got their revenge.
They all take turns getting vengeance for a season's worth of pain and suffering at the hands of Dandy, but our favorite line of the episode, if not of the whole season, might just have to be from Desiree, who as Dandy was drowning, says, "You may look like a motion picture dreamboat, but you are the biggest freak of them all."
As Dandy gasps for air in the Houdini tank, the three remaining freaks grab their popcorn to watch the main event. They can't help but smile at their handiwork, Desiree even mumbles, "That boy is a star," as he gasps for his last breath.
As for another star, Elsa Mars has made her way in Hollywood. After a rocky start, the former star of the Freak Show has really made a name for herself on network television. Not only has she won three Emmys and has three golden albums to her name, but she's also getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It seems that she has it all — fame, fortune and a marriage with a husband who isn't so bad on the eyes.
But looks can be deceiving, as Elsa doesn't appear to be happy in her new life. She is even contemplating performing on Halloween to draw the spirit of Edward Mordrake back from the dead to kill her.
That is, until she meets up with her German doctor friend, who it seems she could have a happy life with. Well, that is until he reveals that he only has a month to live.
Poor Elsa. She realizes the best time of her life was when she was at the freak show.
Realizing her life is not all that glamorous, she agrees to perform and let Edward Mordrake take her. He doesn't let her join his troupe but rather sends to heaven where she gets to live out her days with her freak show gang.
She reunites with Ma Petite and Ethel and it seems like everyone is happy to see her. Not only that, but she gets to perform for a packed house every night, which was her dream from the beginning.
It seems that everyone gets a happy ending. Desiree is happily married with a bunch of kids, while sweethearts Jimmy and Dot and Bette are happy together and have a child on the way.
We'll see you in the fall for the new season.
