5 Reasons To Watch Matthew Rhys, Keri Russell In 'The Americans' In Season 3 On FX! [WATCH]
Just days before the Season 3 premiere of The Americans on FX, audiences are anxious to see what happens next in the spy/family drama. Will Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) follow orders and recruit their own daughter, Paige Jennings (Holly Taylor) into the spy game?
As we previously mentioned, in a Washington, D.C. suburban neighborhood, during the '80s, two KGB spies Elizabeth (Russell) and Philip (Rhys) pose as an American married couple. With their children kept in the dark, the Jennings have to keep their innocent kids away from their neighbor. Right across from them is Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), a dogged FBI agent who is just one step away from blowing their cover.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see Season 3 of The Americans:
I can't look away when Russell and Rhys are on screen together. Notice how both actors have to create alter-egos, with their own accents and hairstyles. And when they both jump into action, with guns blazing, check out how bada** they look in black leather.
Nina Sergeevna (Annet Mahendru) and Stan Beeman (Emmerich) have a very complicated relationship together. Were they using each other? Did they really have feelings for each other? In second season finale, Stan watched as Nina was being taken back to Moscow to stand trial for treason. What happens now between the two?
What if Elizabeth and Philip do tell their child the truth? Paige is going to figure out they've been lying to her, straight to her face. Think about it; the parents are deciding the future of their daughter for her. Whatever decision they come up with, it's definitely going to drive a wedge within the family.
2) The Dream Of The '80s Is Still Alive
In the pilot, I loved how the creators used the Phil Collins song, In the Air Tonight (which was memorably played in Miami Vice), in a sex scene. It used a classic song in a whole new context. And then they played the stalker song from The Police in the trailer, Watching You, giving the lyrics a whole new meaning.
The guy who gave you nightmares as a kid (at least to me) is on this show now. I can't wait to see what the Masters of the Universe does in his new role. Count Dracula himself is playing Gabriel,a former KGB agent who comes out of retirement to become the Jennings' new handler.
The third season of The Americans premieres January 28 at 10pm on FX.
