'Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' Was Top Grossing Movie Of 2014 - Franchise Holds Title 2 Years In A Row, Will 2015 Be The Same?
It might not come as too much of a surprise that along with another year of box office records, a Hunger Games film has taken home the top spot in box office grossing. That's right, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is the top grossing movie of 2014, which marks a two-year streak for the film franchise after Catching Fire took home the top spot in 2013. According to Box Office Mojo (via Film Drunk), the first installment of the two-part Mockingjay chapter of the movie franchise topped Marvel's big 2014 hit blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy by over $1 million. Coming in at around $333.1 million, though, Mockingjay - Part 1 doesn't even come close to its predecessor and last year's top grossing film, Catching Fire, which grossed $424.6 million.
