Billie Joe Armstrong Rehab: Green Day Bandmates Apologize for Meltdown on Video
Though Billie Joe Armstrong is now in rehab to treat "substance abuse", it was reported by Celebuzz that the Green Day singer was sober for the 12 months prior to the sudden meltdown at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.
Armstrong's meltdown came when the singer was performing and noticed a sign that indicated there was only 1 minute left for Green Day's performance on stage. He shockingly stopped his performance and started cursing on stage. He also slammed his guitar on the stage and threw pieces at the audience. He concluded his "performance" by sticking his middle finger out before walking for the stage.
Green Day posted a message of apology for the bizarre behavior.
"We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas."
Just 2 days after the incident, it was Armstrong's rep announced to USA TODAY that the Green Day frontman is "seeking treatment for substance abuse."
Best of luck to Armstrong in rehab.
