New Spider-Man Movies, Andrew Garfield Fired? Sony & Marvel Teaming Up For Another Comic Book Character Reboot Within Cinematic Universe

If you've been following the rumors and speculation around Sony Pictures' Spider-Man movie franchise rights making it into the expansive and successful Marvel Cinematic Universe, you might have seen this coming. As of this week, Sony and Marvel are teaming up to bring Peter Parker to the big screen once again, but this time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means that some of Marvel's Phase 3 movies have to be shuffled around a bit, and that Spider-Man could be showing up in Captain America: Civil War in 2017, like a number of rumors suggested. "Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today (Feb. 9, 2015) that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man," an official statement over at Marvel.com read. "Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films. Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films."

With the new Spider-Man project hitting theaters on July 28, 2017, Marvel's Phase 3 release schedule has to be shuffled around. Disney announced the new release dates for the following films:

Thor: Ragnarok - November 3rd, 2017

Black Panther - July 6th, 2018

Captain Marvel - November 2nd, 2018

Inhumans - July 12th, 2019

Plus, Spider-Man will first appear in another Marvel film, making us think that Captain America 3 is this project.
