O'Brien and Lerman are both 23 years old and white, which, if the casting rumors are true, makes it clear that Peter Parker will be the Spider-Man we'll see in the Marvel films. According to Variety, both of the actors have been contacted for the highly coveted role.
As we stated before, these two actors are very good choices for the role. They both have a pretty solid fan base thanks to their previous roles. O'Brien stars in MTV's Teen Wolf and lead the very successful 2014 film The Maze Runner. Lerman starred in the Percy Jackson films and is making his mark on a number of recent big blockbusters like Noah and Fury. So again, we can see why these actors are the two top choices.
With that said, they are easily the safest choices for Spider-Man. It would've been nice to hear that the first names attached to the new Spider-Man role were relatively unknown rather than established stars.
