'The View' - Rosie O'Donnell Says Goodbye [WATCH] Thanks Barbara Walters, Whoopi Golberg, Nicolle Wallace in Touching Farewell Speech
That's a wrap. Rosie O'Donnell bowed out of The View ever so gracefully today. After much speculation and rumors regarding her position on the series, the 52-year-old comedienne finally told the audience that she was leaving the show after returning to the program this past September.
In the clip that was posted to E! News, Rosie gave a heartfelt speech to the audience at the end of today's episode where she thanked both the cast and crew, as well as Barbara Walters for the job and letting her be a part of the talk show twice.
"I just wanted to say thank you to the cast and crew and mostly to Barbara Walters who has always looked out for me in my life and career and is an amazing woman" the comedienne stated. "We had lunch yesterday. She sends her love."
"I want to thank her for making this show and letting me be on it twice," the star added. "We've had fun and I hope we're going to have more. I'll come back and do an occasional crafting segment because I have a hot glue gun and I will travel. Thank you. It's been real fun."
While Rosie kept the speech short, it was more than she gave when she left the program back in 2007 after she got into a very heated on-air argument with Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
According to People, Rosie is leaving the series for her own personal health, as her rep told the site that her separation from wife Michelle Rounds and the show were too much for her to handle.
"The stress of a daily live talk show is a lot- and the separation is a lot, and you reach a certain point where you have to put health and family first, and she has," Rosie's rep explained.
