Eden Hazard Signs New Chelsea FC Contract Amidst Real Madrid Transfer Rumors - EPL Goalscorer Adds 5+ Years To Blues Career

Belgium's international football star Eden Hazard has put to rest any Real Madrid transfer rumors this week by signing a new contract with his Barclays Premier League team, Chelsea FC for 5-and-a-half years. The 24-year-old goalscoring machine is already being compared to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, so the Blues have really lucked out with the star player's commitment to the team.

"I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea," Hazard said in a statement to Chelsea's official website. "Since I came here in 2012 I have always felt good and the club has been very supportive to me. The manager has helped me improve a lot, the fans have been fantastic and I have an amazing understanding with my teammates."

Speaking of his manager, coach Jose Mourinho recently said that he was confidant Hazard would remain with the team amidst the transfer rumors.

"I am very happy that Eden has signed a new contract. It shows he believes in the club's coaching staff and players to help him become the best player in the world," said in regards to the new contract. "He is already a top player and his evolution has been fantastic. He is still very young and he can become the best."


The young star has made 36 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 13 goals so far, according to ESPNFC.

Hazard continued, "I always try to give pleasure to the supporters with my style of play and it is nice to know they appreciate my work. I hope we can repay that support by winning lots of trophies, beginning with the Capital One Cup at Wembley, and after that, we can push hard towards the end of the season."
