Though we didn't get to sit in with Brett and Michelle on their first therapy session, we see how they're handling it walking to their car. Plenty was said and shared, with both of them feeling pretty down and depressed in the wake of it all. Trying to find a way out of the despair of this situation, Michelle asks Brett what he would most want to do right now, after such an ordeal. He describes an escape the Barnes & Noble, just relaxing with a book. Michelle isn't too happy about this response because she wanted a response that involved the two of them. Brett doesn't have a suggestion, but she does: kickball. "No kids" kickball with their friends. This doesn't really feel like a good idea for Brett, but he moves past it.

Brett tasks Alex in getting the kickball, cones and beer so that he can take a few minutes to calm down and really grasp the fact that he's going to be playing kickball right after something he described as "World War III."

Back at the field, a group of younger L.A. residents comes around. When Michelle tries to explain that she's planning a kickball game, she's informed that they actually reserved the field in advance, for a birthday celebration and a game of "kick the can."

Walking up to the park with Larry and his cute little dog, Tina spots Brett "catching his breath" in his car. After scaring him half-to-death, she lets him know that his mood-killing attitude is not good since Michelle is in a party mood. Tina's telling him to just fake it. Just in time, Alex shows up with the supplies, including the beer, a few of which Brett chugs on the way up.

Larry tries to bribe the kick the can players with a movie gift card for $200, but fails hilariously. More Peter Gallagher, please! Alex steps up to try to negotiate, but it's Michelle that gets the ball rolling-or can... kicking... she challenges them to a game of kick the can, which pays off.

After shotgunning some beers, the game begins. Alex pairs off with Tina, resulting in some heavy talk about jealousy and their issues that we've been seeing in the earlier episodes. Brett and Michelle, witnessing some of their friends getting caught by their opponents, show up and take over the hiding spot. Brett's very drunk by now, and reveals that he's faking the whole thing, which is good that he's trying but obviously not too great, you know? After a very sad talk, Brett leaves the game.

Alex and Tina sneak off and hide inside a building, outsmart an opponent, and have a pretty romantic moment. They share a passionate kiss, which makes Tina run out, yell at the girl that was tracking them, and make the whole situation very "real."

At this point, all of the adults are captured, with only Michelle remaining, drinking pretty heavily, too. She runs into David who's at the park playing basketball. He gives her a pep talk about "going for it" and winning the game. They decide to start strategizing, and come up with the idea to create a distraction. A few "hipster" jokes later, they figure it out.

Back in "jail," Brett and Alex talk about their terrible days. Their conversation is interrupted by David and Michelle's plan, which was to turn on the sprinkler system. With some help from Alex and Tina, Michelle kicks the can. Though it was really against the rules, it still counts as a big win for her. Unfortunately, she turns to David in her moment of glee, instead of her husband.

We're left assuming that David and Michelle will eventually get romantic, but a bigger question is if Brett, in the last moments of the epsiode, noticed his wife looking at another man with joy in her eyes. So what did you think of the fifth episode of HBO's new series?
