Norm MacDonald, Eddie Murphy Twitter Rant: ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Star Supposed to Play Bill Cosby in ‘SNL’ 40th Anniversary ‘Celebrity Jeopardy’ Sketch [PHOTOS]
Perhaps one of the best sketches of this past Sunday's Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary was Celebrity Jeopardy. Why? Well, because it gathered some of the most iconic celebs (both the performers and the impersonations) together again for one of our favorite SNL sketches of all time. And while Darryl Hammond delighted playing Sean Connery, as he usually does, and Norm MacDonald thrilled us all with his famed Burt Reynolds/Turd Ferguson impression ... it seems that there was supposed to be a little more star power in there. And yes, Kenan Thompson did a wonderful job as famed comedian/alleged rapist Bill Cosby, but it seems he wasn't the first choice to play the role of the good doctor. So, who was supposed to? One time SNL savior Eddie Murphy, who appeared in the NBC studio for the first time in about 30 years – which turned out to be a bit of a letdown. With Celebrity Jeopardy, however, apparently Murphy ultimately decided he did not want to play the Cosby Show star ... according to Norm MacDonald's Twitter account.
MacDonald reportedly went on a 110-tweet Twitter "rant" – though he wasn't bashing Murphy at all – that detailed the happenings of the week, specifically that the Beverly Hills Cop star was supposed to play Cosby in the Celebrity Jeopardy sketch, but he chose not to because he didn't want to "kick a man" while he was down.
The whole story can be seen on MacDonald's official Twitter account.
