There's no denying that Michelle Gomez's all-too-short stint as "Missy" in Doctor Who season 8 was a magnificent take on "The Master," creating another layer of the BBC series' nemesis figure - so why did she have to get killed off so easily? Well, it turns out that, like most Doctor Who storylines, "time can be re-written" or maybe more simply, Missy probably wasn't killed. This week, Gomez herself announced in a great new video clip that she's back, with more confirmation coming from the BBC that she'll appear in season 9's opening episode, "The Magician's Apprentice" later in 2015!

This news might not be too much of a surprise to Whovians that have been paying attention to Doctor Who news outside of the series. Back in November, Gomez teased her return in a great video interview. Check it out right here! Plus, Steven Moffat revealed later in 2014 that he had asked the actress to return to the series, hinting that it Missy's storyline wasn't dead.

"I've already asked her to come back," Moffat told Radio Times. "I can't imagine anyone who's ever watched this genre being convinced that she's dead. The Master is never dead, no matter what happens to him or her. She's entirely unzappable! Supervillains don't die, do they? I wouldn't trust anything about that character's ability to lie down and stop breathing."

So as you can see, it isn't too surprising to see such a great character return, but that doesn't make it any more less exciting to have it officially confirmed by Gomez in the great video above!
