'Batman: Arkham Knight' 2015 Gameplay, Rated 'M For Mature' - First Rocksteady Video Game In Series To Receive Adult Rating: Studio Reacts
Rocksteady Studios' incredibly popular Batman: Arkham series is coming to an end in 2015 with the release of Batman: Arkham Knight. Comparing this new title to the previous two releases in the trilogy will result in better graphics and different gameplay, but the official rating of the video game is also a big difference. According to new reports, the ESRB has given Arkham Knight an "M for Mature" rating, which differs from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City's "T for Teen" ratings. This week, Rocksteady responded to the rating.

Speaking with IGN this week about the upcoming release (due out June 2 on PC, Xbox One and PS4), Rocksteady founder Sefton Hill, who also serves as game director for Arkham Knight, revealed that the "M" rating was a surprise to him and his team.
"From our point of view, we never wrote it or made it with a rating in mind," he explained to the website. "We never did that in the previous two games... We just felt that this is the story that we really wanted to tell."
With a higher rating that differs from the other titles in the franchise, some younger players will probably miss the opportunity to play the game. Hill is aware of this, but doesn't want to sacrifice story for a more lenient rating.
"I'm not blind to the fact that [the M rating] does mean some fans will miss out... I don't want to be oblivious to that fact," the game director said, according to Comic Book Movie. "It would have been wrong to water down the game and deliver a story we didn't believe in to keep the game 'mass market' or enable it for more people. We feel that's the wrong way to go about it. We said we love the story and we don't want to jeopardize that."
