A car was sliced in half in a horrific accident when it struck trees on a Long Island parkway leaving four 18-year-old passengers dead. The 17-year-old driver of the Subaru, Joseph Beer of Queens was transported to a local hospital. The victims of the accident have not yet been identified.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. Monday on the westbound Southern State Parkway. Significantly, the crash was so bad, the victim's belongings and car debris were scattered all over the highway and police had to close the road down for five hours. The road was later reopened at 10 a.m.

Apparently, driver of the car, Beer, missed a curb driving directly into the woods, causing the other teens to be ejected from the vehicle. Police haven't disclosed if the teens were under the influence or whether they were wearing seat-belts at the time of the accident.

The Southern State Parkway is commonly known for car accidents to occur at least once a year however,  residents say this was the first devastating crash that had where a car was sliced in half.

Amy Buchanan, a resident of Taylor road where the car came at rest said, "I've lived here for 10 years and there has been an accident almost in that exact spot every year, but never as one as horrific as this." Beer was seen walking along the wreckage when appearing to be the only sole survivor.
