Eddie Redmayne Cross-Dresses For Next Role: Transgender Artist Lile Elbe [PHOTO] 'Theory Of Everything' Oscar Winner Takes On New Role In 'Danish Girl' Movie
Less than a month after winning the Best Leading Actor Oscar award at the 87th Annual Academy Awards for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne has already started working on his newest biopic, The Danish Girl. Based on the life of transgender artist Lili Elbe, Redmayne has dawned a dress, a wig and make up for the first image of him in character, and we have this photo to share with you just below!

According to Film Drunk, The Danish Girl tells the story of Einar Wegener who, in the 1930s, had sexual reassignment surgery to become a woman, and changing her name to Lile Elbe. This is one of the first known surgeries of its kind.
The Hollywood Reporter states that The Danish Girl will focus on Wegener's relationship with his wife, Gerda Gottlieb played by Alicia Vikander.
"There are many people who have written Ph.D's on Lili's story," the actor said in a 2014 interview with E! Online. "Even though it is period and under completely different circumstances than today, I'm meeting many women from the trans community and hearing their experiences."
He continued, "I have put on dresses and wigs and makeup. I'm beginning to embark on that and trying to find out who she is."
