Malala Yousafzai, 14, was shot in the head and neck by the Taliban after leaving school. Three men between the ages of 17-22 have been arrested and the mastermind, Attaullah is still at large. The teenager was attacked for speaking against militants and promoting education for girls. Doctors say that Yousafzai had slight movement in her arms and legs since the surgery.

The young girl has become a national hero for her courageous acts, and since her shooting she has received global attention. Other world leaders including Pakistanis condemn the shooters who are linked to the Taliban.

Once the government gained control of the Swat Valley, Yousafzai began speaking out against the Taliban at the age of 11.  The girl's father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, also runs the school for girls and said that she had been receiving threats for years and she believed that her community was her protection.

Taliban spokesman said Yousafzai was targeted for spreading Western culture and that she would be attacked again until she is killed. Authorities say that her attackers have been identified and a 10 million rupee reward is available if they are captured.

Masood Kausar said, "The security agencies are closely working with each other and they have a lot of information about the perpetrators. We hope our security agencies will soon capture them and bring to justice."

Jay Carney, a White House spokesman said, "The president found the news reprehensible and disgusting and tragic. Directing violence at children is barbaric, it's cowardly, and our hearts go out to her and the others who were wounded as well as their families."

For her outstanding work, Yousufzai received Pakistan's highest civilian award in addition to more death threats.
