Microsoft Xbox Boss Talks PlayStation Network Xbox Live Christmas Day Attacks - Phil Spencer Calls It A "Learning Experience"
Do you remember this past Christmas Day when both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live suffered DDoS attacks, shutting down the online services of the popular consoles for hours? Well, if you're a gamer, this day must have been a major bummer. This week, Microsoft Xbox chief Phil Spencer opened up about these apparent hacks, explaining that he was in contact with Sony while it was going on and that he viewed it as a learning experience.

"Our commitment to Xbox One customers is to make sure our service is robust and reliable," he told GameInformer in a new interview, according to IGN. He also explained that he has been in contact with Sony and Nintendo over the attacks, explaining that he wasn't happy that the other online services for his competitors were down, too.
"I don't think it's great when PSN goes down," he explained. "It doesn't help me. All it does is put the fear and distrust from any gamer that's out there, so I look at all of us together as this is our collective opportunity to share what we can about what we're learning and how things are growing. Those conversations happen, which I think is great."
So hopefully this learning experience has taught Spencer and the heads of the other companies what to do if this ever happens again. That would definitely make gamers out there feel a little better about such a situation!
The hacker group "Lizard Squad" took credit for the outages on Twitter, but soon deleted the Tweet that claimed they were responsible.
"10,000 [retweets] and we will stop smacking #Xbox and #PSN offline," the deleted post read.
Eventually everything was back up at running, so we're hoping this never happens again. What do you think of what Spencer had to say this week? Let us know in the comments section below!
