Nike decided to separate from Lance Armstrong due to his doping scandal. The company claims that Armstrong misled the company. The company explained in a statement:

"Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him."

According to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, additional evidence discovered about the world renowned cyclist includes, "Direct documentary evidence including financial payments, emails, scientific data and laboratory test results that further prove the use, possession and distribution of performance enhancing drugs by Lance Armstrong and confirm the disappointing truth about the deceptive activities of the USPS Team, a team that received tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars in funding."

Armstrong's involvement within the doping scandal has been called, "the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen."

Nike has agreed to still support the Livestrong organization, a cancer fighting charity.  However, Armstrong revealed he will step down as the charity's chairman.

"To spare the foundation any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding my cycling career, I will conclude my chairmanship," Armstrong said.

The Eleven people that testified against Armstrong were: George Hincape, Frankie Andreu, Michael Barry, Tom Danielson, Tyler Hamilton, Floyd Landis, Levi Leipheimer, Stephen Swart, Christian Vande Velde, Jonathan Vaughters and David Zabriskie.

Former teammate, George Hincape admitted to his doping usage and said, "I would have been much more comfortable talking only about myself, but understood that I was obligated to tell the truth about everything I knew. So that is what I did."
