5 Thoughts On Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio In 'Marvel's Daredevil' Official Trailer On Netflix! [WATCH]
Ahead of its April release date, the official trailer has been released for Netflix's superhero series, Marvel's Daredevil. Building viewer anticipation to binge-watch this show, we finally get to see Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in action as the blind lawyer Matt Murdock and his arch-nemesis, Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin).
As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was just a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom battles. But when darkness falls, Daredevil serves out his own brand of justice protecting Hell's Kitchen from the crime lord, Wilson Fisk (D'Onofrio).
Here's our 5 thoughts on the Marvel's Daredevil official trailer:
5) They Want The Same Thing!
It seems like Fisk and Murdock want the same thing; a better Hell's Kitchen. But they're willing to achieve their goals in different ways. I like the sense of duality between them, which harkens back to Professor Xavier and Magneto in the X-Men comics. No matter how hard you try, you cannot change someone's opinion on something. Kudos to the way the Law & Order: Criminal Intent actor says the line, "I respect your conviction." So creepy!
4) He Gets His Hands Dirty!
I just love this shot of Wilson Fisk (D'Onofrio) wiping the blood off his face, after getting into a brawl. Very rarely do you see The Kingpin in a fight in the comics, but when you do, it's a bloody knockout. Remember the Sega Gensis Spider-Man game? Fisk was the final boss. Must have played that level a thousand times before I could beat him! Watching D'Onofrio flip that table...yeesh, I do not want to be on his bad side.
3) The Daily Bugle!
Oh my god! That's Ben Urich! Vondie Curtis-Hall (Die Hard 2 & Broken Arrow) is playing him! In the comics, Ben is the chain-smoking journalist who reports on every super-hero as his beat. I've been so excited to see him as Ben since his annoucement at New York Comic Con 2014. I can't wait to see Cox and Curtis-Hall, two tough guys, in the same scene together!
Bonus: Marvel has announced the rest of the supporting cast. Rob Morgan will play Turk Barrett, a smalltime criminal in Hell's Kitchen. Matt Gerald will play Melvin Potter, a machinist caught between a rock and a hard place. Peter Shinkoda is Nobu, a Japanese businessman with an agenda all his own. Wai Ching Ho plays Madame Gao, a powerful woman running her own trade. Nikolai Nikolaeff and Gideon Emery are Vladimir and Anatoly, two Russian brothers looking to forge new names for themselves in America.
2) Love Triangle Anyone?
I love that scene where Matt (Cox) says, "I will keep you safe, Karen." Then you see Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) leaning againt Foggy (Elden Henson) as he wraps his arms around her. Who's wouldn't; she's True Blood's Jessica Hamby! What's going on there? When's April 10th getting here already?
1) That Song Is Off The Hook!
Readers, anybody know who plays that song in the trailer? It sounds like a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds song but I don't think its. The slow tempo fits in with the shoot-em-up action, the explosions, and the tense confrontation between Daredevil and Kingpin. The music perfectly captures the gritty atmosphere and the dark tone of the upcoming series.
Marvel's Daredevil arrives on Netflix April 10.
