When Will The Arrow/Flash Spinoff Debut? Plus Arrow Season 4 Spoilers
Arrow star Stephen Amell appeared at Planet Comic-Con in Kansas City over the weekend, and the man under the hood revealed some interesting details about Season 4 of his own show, along with the much-anticipated Arrow/Flash spinoff.
First, Amell said that the spinoff is planned to "launch midseason next year." Does this mean the show could fill in the time between episodes of Arrow and The Flash during their hiatuses?
Next, the actor talked about the Season 4 trailer for Sna Diego Comic-Con 2015. They have yet to film it, of course, but Amell had an interesting tease about it. "Without spoiling anything, I will say, I think the greatest moment in the history of the show will be the trailer that we show at Comic-Con this year," he said. "I really do, because after three seasons and 69 episodes, we are going to fundamentally change the show at the grassroots level. I think it's going to be cool."
Finally, Amell delivered some words that will hurt longtime fans of the series. "There are things happening in the episodes that we're filming right now that are going to alter Oliver and Diggle's relationship forever," he said. "No, it's not Diggle becoming Green Lantern," he added jokingly.
A major question about the show is just how Caity Lotz will return as Sara Lance, who died in the Season 3 premiere of Arrow. "I think by the Spring, you'll know," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in an interview with Green Arrow TV. "We want to keep some surprises going, but we're really excited about that series.... just to add another leg to the tripod, and complete it. We'll get to see some of the characters that we've seen and introduce a whole bunch of new characters, and show them all in a different way, and have the show really feel different. As different as Flash feels from Arrow, this new show will feel different from both of them."
Kreisberg also addressed the show's title. "It’s still very early in the process on that," he said. "We had to make sure to get as much of the cast set as we could before we sat down to break this mega-series with all of these characters, rather than be do that and have people say they’re not interested."
