Melissa Rycroft 'DWTS' Injury: Hurts Head and Neck during the Tango, Released from Hospital and Ready to Hit the Stage
"Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" contender Melissa Rycroft experienced a head and neck injury after rehearsing her tango routine with partner Tony Dovolani on Sunday and was immediately rushed to the hospital. According to reports, Rycroft was released from the hospital later Sunday evening and is currently doing fine. The 29-year-old former "Bachelor" reality star and Dallas Cowboys cheerleader is still set to hit the stage on Monday night's episode of "DWTS."
Rycroft's rep told People magazine, "Melissa was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she is currently being examined. She was accompanied to the hospital by her husband, Tye Strickland, and her dance partner, Tony Dovolani. Everyone is taking all necessary precautions at this time."
Rycroft's professional dance partner Dovolani also tweeted this after Rycroft was transported to the hospital:
@TonyDovolani: "Really concerned about @MelissaRycroft..... we don't know if we are dancing tomorrow !!!!! Please keep us in your prayers #trouper."
But no worries, "DWTS" fans, Rycroft got the medical attention she needed and has since recovered. She is expected to perform the tango routine with Dovolani tonight (Oct. 22). It is not an elimination night.
Dovolani went on to tweet this Monday afternoon:
@TonyDovolani: "Thank you all for your prayers @MelissaRycroft 's health is the most important to me ! So fingers crossed that she's ok."
Fellow "DWTS" contestant Emmit Smith also informed fans about Rycroft's unexpected injury on Twitter Sunday:
@EmmittSmith22: "I really hope Melissa Rycroft is ok. She was taken to the hospital with a head/neck injury. Saying a prayer for her tonight."
Rycroft finally hit up Twitter on Monday, sending this positive message to fans:
@MelissaRycroft: "Thank you so much for sending your prayers... still seeing and talking to docs this AM, will give more details soon, but thanks for your love!"
Rycroft tweeted this on Saturday, insinuating her difficulties with the upcoming tango routine:
@MelissaRycroft: "Been a long (and tough week) of Tango...but back to attack again today. Sometimes nothing motivates you like frustration..."
Even so, it looks like Rycroft is well enough to hit the stage with Dovolani Monday night (the duo finished third place in the eighth season of "Dancing with the Stars").
