Morgan Freeman Died 2012: Outrageous Death Hoax Reappears, Actor is NOT Dead, He's ALIVE

By Mstarz Staff Reporter | Oct 22, 2012 04:54 PM EDT

Morgan Freeman is once again the victim of a repetitive death hoax that claims that actor died and people continue to fall for this rumor that became viral through social media websites like Twitter and Facebook.  He is thankfully NOT dead.

How many times does an actor need to be killed off virtually before the perpetrators are satisfied?  How times does his life need to be defended until people realize that he is alive and well?  Freeman's representative has even offered an official statement in August that read, "Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."

Still, the power of social media is unable to stop the rumors from spreading like cancer.  Facebook pages created with the title "RIP Morgan Freeman" has gained more "likes" compared to many real deaths in Hollywood.

The 75-year-old actor is most known for his role in the movie Bruce Almighty where he played "God."  He is not the only victim of nasty death rumors.  Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Albert Ribeiro, Skrillex,  and many other famous stars have been featured in fake death stories before.

Some celebrities respond with humor while others respond with distaste for the pain it causes to those who believe the false report.

Cosby has been reported "dead" at least 5 times over the past few years and he is fed up by it.  In 2010, he told CNN, "I don't want [whoever spread the rumor] to do this anymore, because this is my fourth time being reported [dead]," Cosby said to CNN.

"I don't know. Maybe a psychiatrist will say I'm feeding [the rumor starter's] ego, but I just want to say to friends of that person: Just tell him to stop, because it isn't funny."

Cosby's friend apparently bursted into tears after hearing about his "death" through the death hoax that spread at the time.

Freeman's voice has recently appeared on a commercial for President Barack Obama, and it clearly shows that he is alive and active.  His voice is the most memorable asset of the actor that millions of people have come to love.

So far, Morgan has not directly responded to the rumors, however many messages of condolences continue to pour for the actor.  Many angry messages have been voiced towards the one who started the rumor as well.
