Katy Perry Flaunts Obama Pride in Ballot-Inspired Dress at Las Vegas Rally, Songstress Celebrates 'Best Birthday Ever'
Katy Perry sure knows how to celebrate her birthday in savvy political style - the pop songstress (who turns 28 on Thursday, Oct. 25) performed at a Barack Obama support rally in Las Vegas on Wednesday, decked out in a pro-Obama, voter ballot-inspired dress ensemble. Early Thursday morning, the "Fireworks" star tweeted about the awesome campaign rally and thanked Obama for his loving b-day shout-out - definitely seems to make for what Perry considers the "Best. Birthday. Ever."
Check out photos of Perry's politically-influenced white dress ensemble here. The form-fitting getup resembles an actual 2012 presidential election voter ballot - with the spot marked for Obama/Biden scribbled-in with black (obviously embellishing Perry's vote).
Perry joined Obama in front of a crowd of 13,000 in Las Vegas on Wednesday in order to influence people to get out and vote come November 6. During her performance, Perry exclaimed to the crowd: "Don't wait, go tomorrow [to register]. How many of you guys are 18 in here? Let's do this tomorrow. You know I got my poll outfit sorted, ok." The songstress went on to promise she'd be wearing red, white, and blue as she votes "for you know who" on Election Day.
During the event, Obama got up onstage to thank Perry for her ongoing support, wishing her a happy birthday and telling the crowd just what a "wonderful young lady" the "Wide Awake" singer is. Later on backstage, Obama even gave Perry's 91-year-old grandmother Ann some love. The Prez was seen smearing off some lipstick from where Ann gave him a big smooch on the cheek - "Fortunately somebody wiped it off before Michelle saw it," Obama joked to ABC News.
Following the night's exciting festivities, the birthday girl posted this message on Twitter:
@katyperry: "The PRESIDENT gave grandma and I unforgettable shout outs & now I am officially 28! Best. birthday. ever."
Thoughtful Perry asks that if friends and fans wish to give her a birthday gift, they should donate to the David Lynch Foundation, an organization that strives to bring "Transcendental Meditation to millions of adults and children all over the world who suffer from post-traumatic stress."
How sweet of the mega-pop star. Happy birthday Katy!
