'Empire' Season 2 Spoilers: Will Trai Byers' Andre Lyon "Pay For" Malik Yoba's Vernon Turner Death? [WATCH]
Viewers are anxiously awaiting to see Season 2 of Empire make it way back on Fox. When the show returns from hiatus, what will Luscious Lyon (Terrence Howard) do to make Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) and Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday), "suffer the consequences" for Vernon Turner (Malik Yoba)'s murder?
As we previously mentioned, Luscious (Howard) is a hip hop mogul who became interested in taking his company public and passing the torch to one of his three kids. Cookie ((Taraji P. Henson), the ex-matriarch of the wealthy family, returned after having just been released from prison. The company is divided between the aspiring Jamal (Smollett), playboy rapper Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), and business savvy Andre (Byers).
During the first season finale, Vernon was murdered by Andre and his pregnant wife, Rhonda (Doubleday). Though Jamal has earned the company, Anika (Grace Gealey) has setup a hostile takeover against him. From beyond the grave, Vernon (Malik Yoba) got his revenge for Bunky. Arrested on murder charges, Luscious was last seen in a prison cell, thinking his own wife and kids set him up.
In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Ilene Chaiken reveals what's coming up next for Andre and Rhonda, "Once our story took us there, though, we certainly felt like this was a great and interesting opportunity. And whatever happens, whether Rhonda and Andre get discovered or not, there are going to be some thematic repercussions of that action"
Check out Unto the Breach here:
Chaiken teases if the couple will split or not, "We love that Andre-Rhonda dynamic, and whether they're coming back together in the way they were before, or whether they have to renegotiate their relationship, is really interesting to us. We also have to look at whether or not Andre's [religious] conversion, if that's indeed what it is, plays into it. But we definitely love the both of them, and we love them together."
Empire returns for Season 2.
