'View' 4000th Episode Celebration Brings Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg Together

The long running ABC series The View celebrated a huge milestone, in a HUGE way. Not only did the show turn 4000 episodes old, but in honor of the momentous occasion, the series brought back two of the most memorable co-host to ever appear on the series. Barbara Walters and Joy Behar took up two of the seats on the panel alongside fellow hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Nicolle Wallace and guest host Mario Cantone.

However, according to Walters, the series almost didn't make it to this milestone, as E! News posted some clips from the celebration where Walters explains the struggles that the show had from the beginning.

"What happened was we put the show on in August when there were fewer viewers, because we didn't think we were going to make it, so why make a big deal out of it," the news reporter explained. "The president of ABC news was a genius, a man whose opinion I respected, said, 'You should not do the show. This show will ruin your reputation as a newswoman.' And I really was afraid it was. We wanted it to be funny and newsy and you know, we never thought it was going to last."

The anchors co-hosts also explained that they owe it all to Walters, as Whoopi explained, "We wouldn't be here but for you."

USA Today reported that the audience members were dressed in baby-blue t-shirts to commemorate the episode, while the hosts had a champagne toast at the end with a huge confetti cannon that doused the co-hosts, past and present, in multicolor bits of streamers.

The View also posted the moment on their Vine page, with the caption "Cheers! #View4000 #CakeCakeCake."
