In a startling revelation, Sharon Osbourne disclosed that she opted a double mastectomy in fear of developing breast cancer.

Osbournce said in an interview to Hello! Magazine that she decided to have both her breasts surgically removed to keep the chances of getting affected by breast cancer at bay.

Given that Sharon had already suffered colon cancer a decade ago, she decided to nip the cancer possibilities in the bud after she found that she carried a gene that made her vulnerable to develop the Big C.

"As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought: 'The odds are not in my favour.' I've had cancer before and I didn't want to live under that cloud: I decided to just take everything off, and had a double mastectomy," Sharon reveals.

However, the former judge of the reality show "X Factor" does not regret her decision, saying that she wanted to live her rest of life without fear of cancer. "For me, it wasn't a big decision, it was a no-brainer. I didn't want to live the rest of my life with that shadow hanging over me. I want to be around for a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl," Sharon told magazine. "It's not 'pity me', it's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around."
