Nelly Arrest Update: Rapper's Lawyer Confident He Will Be Cleared of Drug Charges
MStars News previously learned that rapper Nelly was arrested over the weekend in Tennessee on felony drug charges, but now we have learned that Cornell Haynes Jr.'s lawyer is confident he will be cleared.
According KSDK, Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenblum said he feels his client will be fine after the facts of the case are revealed:
"Nelly was one of several individuals that was on a tour bus that was stopped and searched while traveling through Tennessee. In fact, there had been 15 to 20 people that had access to the bus prior to the stop. Allegedly, a small quantity of contraband -- MDMA aka Molly or Ecstasy -- was discovered during the routine search. We are extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered."
MStars News previously reported that Tennessee state troopers pulled over Nelly's bus on I-40 between Nashville and Knoxville Saturday morning, April 11, because it didn't have the correct stickers displayed. The trooper who pulled the rapper's bus over claimed they smelled marijuana after searching the bus.
The troopers also found crystal-type rocks that tested positive for meth and a small amount of marijuana along with other drug paraphernalia.
The troopers also discovered multiple handguns, including a ".45-caliber Tarus pistol and a 500 magnum Smith & Wesson."
Nelly wasn't alone on the bus, as it was on its way back to St. Louis, where the rapper is from. There were five other people on the bus when it was pulled over.
Nelly was charged with "felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Nellyville star was released on bond.
Nellyville's second season is scheduled to air on BET in May. Hopefully, these charges against the rapper won't affect his family's reality show, or his relationship with Shantel Jackson, a.k.a. Miss Jackson.
