'Mortal Kombat X' Gameplay Mod Makes Fighters Rain, Sindel and Baraka Available [VIDEO]
After some easy hacking of Mortal Kombat X, a YouTube user by the name of XVermillion posted a few videos to his page where he shows players how to mod the game in a way where you are able to unlock Rain, Sindel and Baraka. You can't really play with them online or in one-on-one Kombat though. The small group of fighters is only available in the PC version's training mode.
He explained his process on Reddit.
"I backed up the files for Shinnok (the character I'm replacing) and renamed Rain's files to match those associated with Shinnok's 1st costume slot (CHAR_Shinnok_A.xxx and one other, the one that matches Rain's other one) and moved 'em to the folder and overwrote Shinnok's old files with the newly renamed Rain files," XVermillion said. "What you see is just me playing in training mode with what the game thinks is Shinnok but is using Rain's model and moveset."
You can watch the end result here:
With the hack, the game essentially thinks you're playing as Shinnock because all you're really doing is replacing the source file and renaming it. For now, this hack is only for training mode, but in the future these three Kombatants may become available through DLC.
Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon says Mortal Kombat X is the biggest launch in the series' history. IGN reviewer Vince Ingenito shared the same sentiment as Boon and went a step further by saying X is the best Mortal Kombat game ever.
"A much-needed transfusion of new blood, along with the ability to choose between three variations of every character means we'll be learning, grinding, and discovering for a long time to come," Ingenito said in the closing statement of his review. "Its universe keeps getting harder and harder to take seriously, and its microtransactions are borderline gross, but Mortal Kombat X is a great fighting game all the same."
