'Master Of Kung-Fu #1' Preview: Shang-Chi Returns To Kick Butt In Marvel Comics' 'Secret Wars' Series!

One man stand against the might of an entire empire in Marvel Comics' Secret Wars event. Marvel hero, Shang-Chi, will unleash his martial arts skills in Master of Kung-Fu #1, from writer Haden Blackman (Elektra) and artist Dalibor Talajic (Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe).

As we previously mentioned, Secret Wars features the Marvel superheroes from alternate realities coming together to meet in an epic standoff. Marvel's superheroes and super-villains will be forced to defend themselves for the survival of their universe. There will be no Marvel Universe, no Ultimate Universe, or any other, just Battleworld.

In the plot synopsis, readers are taken to the mystical land of K'un Lun. Before he was the most prized student in all of K'un Lun, but now, Shang-Chi wanders the streets as a derelict. Cast out and forsaken, Shang-Chi meets other outsiders who have been shunned like him. Together, they will rise up and dethrone the evil Emperor Zu, who also happens to be Shang-Chi's father. Things are going to get messy in this father and son reunion.

According to Newsarama, the protagonist, Shang-Chi, is best known as Marvel's Master of Kung Fu. The Secret Wars tie-in will also feature Elektra, Kitty Pryde, Lockheed, as well as Typhoid Mary. Before landing his ow Netflix series, K'un Lun's most popular champion Danny Rand, known as Iron Fist, will also make an appearance.

Blackman tells the site, "Life in K'un-Lun revolves around martial arts, and specifically the many different schools that train the populace, each of which focuses on different techniques. Mastering these techniques provides a wide range of powers and abilities -- from something familiar, like Iron Fist's ability to focus his chi to empower his attacks, to intangibility and even shape-shifting."

As we previously mentioned, Miles Morales might lose his home world in Ultimate End #1, Peter Parker has a wife and kid in Renew Your Vows #1, and Magneto leads the X-Men in Age of Apocalypse #1

Master of Kung-Fu #1 will arrive in stores sometime in May 20, 2015.
