Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Disaster Date Aftermath: Gomez's Intimate Dinner with Taylor Swift, Biebs Escorts Mom to AMAs [VIDEO]

Pop stars Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were recently spotted on a date in L.A. just days after reports confirmed the couple's highly-publicized breakup. But it doesn't look like things ended up going so well - the duo were spotted storming out of the Yamato Japanese restaurant and speeding off in separate vehicles... when Biebs followed his ex-gf back to her house, the "Boyfriend" star found himself utterly rejected and locked out. But instead of heightening the drama by escorting a Victoria's Secret model (cough, Barbara Palvin, cough) to the American Music Awards on Sunday evening (Nov. 18), 18-year-old Bieber decided to bring the one and only woman he can truly trust - his mom, Pattie Mallette. Meanwhile, Gomez was spotted out on an intimate, girls-only dinner date with gal pal Taylor Swift. It appears that Bieber and Gomez are both ready to take a timeout from one another in order relax and cool things down.

Malette - who recently released her tell-all memoir "Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom" - proudly posed with her son for candid pics on the red carpet at the AMAs. When the "As Long as You Love Me" singer won the first award of the night for "Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist," 38-year-old Malette happily sat in the crowd, beaming at her young son's accomplishments.

When accepting his award, the Biebs announced, "I want to say this is for all the haters who thought I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I'm going to be here for a very long time."

Meanwhile, Gomez had a friendly dindin with gal pal Taylor Swift on Saturday evening in L.A. at the Osteria La Buca restaurant. The two gossiped the entire evening - whether about boy issues or not, it appears a fun, girls night out is exactly what the two recently single starlets needed (Swift just broke up with former summer flame, Conor Kennedy). Witnesses confirm that Gomez and Swift kept things light and positive, giggling and cutting loose throughout the meal.

Before his 2012 AMA debut beside momma Biebs, the teen heartthrob tweeted this on Saturday (while Gomez was enjoying her time with Swift):

@justinbieber: "Things aren't always easy. there is a lot of pressure. im figuring it all out. im trying. but i care, i notice, i still hear u. #Beliebers."

So will Bieber and Gomez ultimately get back together? Looks like only time will tell (come on, the two are still so young!), but for now taking some time off seems like the best thing for the both of them. What do Mstarz readers think?
