Last month, Mendelsohn was rumored for a role, but this week the actor responded to the rumors. Speaking with MTV News, the breakout star of Bloodline opened up about his love of Star Wars.
"I was in the absolute sweet spot for 'Star Wars,'" he explained in this new interview. "I would've been eight or something when it came out, so it was like, boom, like a nuke. I had the trading cards, posters on the wall... it was big. Big."
His excitement makes us realize that he'd love to be involved in this new movie, to which he says his casting rumors are "all news to me." Watch this interview right here:
Meanwhile, another relatively unknown actor has been linked to the project this week. Riz Ahmed, who recently starred alongside Jake Gyllenhall in the critically acclaimed film Nightcrawler, is allegedly a "favorite" for a role in Rogue One. This news comes from Badass Digest.
Another name that will surely have a slightly bigger draw than these others is Sam Claflin, who is also rumored to be up for a role in the Edwards movie. Claflin stars in the Hunger Games movies, and definitely has a heroic look to him.
