Justin Bieber Won't be Charged in Alleged Battery Case Against Overzealous Paparazzo, 'Lack of Evidence'
Not only is Justin Bieber currently on good terms with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, the pop megastar is officially off the hook for an alleged battery/assault charge that was filed by an overzealous paparazzo photographer back in May! According to recent reports, the L.A. County District Attorney's office found that there was lack of evidence and too many conflicting eyewitness accounts in the case, so criminal charges won't be filed against the 18-year-old "As Long as You Love Me" singer. Beliebers can now all give out a huge sigh of relief!
Back in May, a gossip photographer claimed that he got into a physical altercation with the Biebs in Calabasas, CA - the paparazzo was attempting to snap a few pics of the teen heartthrob and apparently wouldn't move out of the way when Bieber tried to leave in his car. The photog promptly called the police and filed a report - the "Boyfriend" crooner was then suspected of committing misdemeanor battery and the case went under investigation.
This isn't Bieber's first legal run-in with the paparazzi - just last week another L.A. Superior Court Judge threw out part of the criminal case against paparazzo Paul Raef, another overzealous photographer who participated in an 80mph car chase with Bieber on a densely-populated LA highway over the summer. Raef was ultimately charged with three counts of reckless driving (two with the intent to capture pictures for commercial gain) and one count of failing to obey the order of a police officer. The counts involving "intent to capture pictures for commercial gain" were eventually dropped due to First Amendment rights concerns.
The things people will do to catch just one impromptu shot of the Biebs!
At least things seem to be going alright between Bieber and his ex-flame, Selena Gomez (for now!).
