5 Reasons We'll Miss Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm After 'Fantastic Four' #645 Final Issue!
The Fantastic Four has been a major staple in Marvel Comics' superhero lineup. With the end in sight, will Reed Richards, (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (Thing) stand together one last time in their final issue, Fantastic Four #654?
In the plot synopsis, the Fantastic Four have to somehow defeat the Quiet Man and the corrupted forces of the Heroes Reborn universe. Needed when it matters monster, will Johnny Storm eventually get his powers back? Will Reed and Sue reunite as a family once again or will they lose everything they fought so hard for?
We have 5 reasons why we will miss this superhero group after Fantastic Four #645:
1) They're A Dysfunctional Family
What made Fantastic Four stand out for decades is that they are a dysfunctional family who happen to be family. Together, they've had brother vs sister arguments, husband and wife marital problems, even while trying to save the world from Onslaught, Doctor Doom, and the Mole Man.
2) The Coming of Galactus
I hope we're all in agreement when I say the greatest Fantastic Four story arc ever is The Galactus Trilogy. Not only is are we introduced to Silver Surfer, the storyline features how our heroes can deal with a cosmic event, while still dealing with their own inner turmoil. Legendary artist Jack Kirby did a phenomenal job drawing Manhattan in chaos and the sky on fire.
3) What Happens After?
From the looks of things, the team has disbanded. According to Bleeding Cool, the Human Torch will join the Inhumans. Susan Storm becomes a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Mister Fantastic will play a major role in Secret Wars. Will Reed Richards have to deal with his bad self, his Ultimate Universe counterpart? But how long will I wait till they get back together? They will...right?
4) Secret Wars
As we perviously mentioned, Miles Morales plays a big role in Ultimate End #1. I liked the team-up between Reed Richards and Miles Morales during Cataclysm. Reed was looking at a life he never thought possible when he transported to Earth-616. If Ultimate Universe' Reed Richards is The Maker, I want see Miles go after him.
5) But...What About The Movie?
I personally can't wait to see director Josh Trank (Chronicle)'s darker re-imagination of the superhero team. I really want this superhero movie to be a hit at the box office. With an audience interested with sci-fi material, such as Interstellar and Gravity, there are plenty of stories you can tell with Fantastic Four.
The Fantastic Four will hit theaters on August 7, 2015. Fantastic Four #645 hits stores on April 29, 2015.
Readers, are you excited to grab the final issue of the Fantastic Four?
