Bjork Surgery Successful: Songstress Forced to Cancel Tour Dates, Finally Decides to Remove Vocal Cord Polyp, Now Feels Better than Ever
Eclectic Icelandic songstress Bjork reports that she recently underwent laser surgery to remove potentially dangerous polyps and nodules on her vocal chords, and the procedure was an overall success! The songstress initially tried to keep her medical woes under wraps, but exercise and dieting did not help to cure the benign growth on her vocal cord, and the 47-year-old was forced to cancel a few concert appearances on her tour earlier this year. Bjork insists she now feels a lot better and it feels great to be able to sing so clearly again.
Bjork, who knew about the polyp and nodule growth on her vocal cords for years, recently wrote to fans on her official website:
"Few years ago doctors found a vocal polyp on me chords ... I decided to go the natural way and for 4 years did stretches and tackled it with different foods and what not . Then they discovered better technology and i got tempted into hi tech lazer stuff and I have to say, in my case anyway : surgery rocks ! i stayed quiet for 3 weeks and then started singing and definitely feel like my chords are as good as pre nodule ! It's been very satisfying to sing all them clear notes again. I'm sorry I had to cancel stuff earlier in the year, didn't want to talk about this until I knew for sure if it would work. So looking forward to singing for you in 2013 all the warmth, Björk."
So looks like fans will still get the chance to see Bjork perform live come 2013!
