Stephen King's 'It' Movie Remake Pennywise Cast News: Will Poulter is Scary Clown for Director Cary Fukunaga
The creepy clown Pennywise from author Stephen King's It is definitely one of the scariest characters in literature and entertainment, mainly thanks to actor Tim Curry who played the iconic horror movie role in the 1991 TV miniseries. So when director Cary Fukunaga set out to remake this tale into a new movie, all of his emphasis for casting has been on this character. This week, we've learned that Maze Runner star Will Poulter has been offered the role of Pennywise, thus taking on the huge task of filling Curry's clown-sized shoes in the upcoming film project. Filming stars on June 22, 2015 in New York. Find out more about this casting news below!

According to a new report from Variety, Fukunaga is set to direct two installments of this new remake, with Poulter cast as the main antagonist of the films.
"I've been in this project for about five years. I had already read versions of the script but nothing felt right. Everybody tried to put too much into it, telling it from the perspective of the adult and the child in a two-hour movie. It didn't fit. So I decided to throw it all away and start from scratch," Fukunaga, who is known for directing the first season of HBO's True Detective, said earlier this year. "This will be my first movie in the US and I'm still trying to find the perfect guy to play Pennywise."
It looks like the director has found his man in Poulter, who you might also recognize from the comedy We're the Millers. We definitely have faith in the young actor, especially since Fukunaga spent so much time casting this role and decided on Poulter.
According to Slash Film, the first film of this new series will focus on the main characters as children and then the second will be their adult lives. This is similar to the 1991 miniseries, which was also broken up in that arch.
