WWE NXT Preview 5/6/15: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens Collide Before NXT Takover Unstoppable

By Andrew Meola | May 06, 2015 12:28 PM EDT

The May 6, 2015 edition of WWE's NXT will air on the WWE Network tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern, and Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will collide before their NXT Championship match at Takeover: Unstoppable in two weeks.

Owens and Zayn will each sit down with Michael Cole to hype the match and talk about their opponent. These two have such a long and storied history together on the independent scene, and WWE has smartly rolled that history into their story so far in NXT. What new steps will they take tonight? What will each man say?

There are also the matters of injuries and the timing of Zayn's debut on Monday Night Raw this week. For starters, will NXT mention Zayn's match with United States Champion John Cena, which actually happened after WWE filmed this week's episode of NXT? Or will they ignore it completely? Zayn also injured his shoulder during that match. Will that be reference tonight on the show? And Owens has been dealing with a knee injury, so there's a lot to keep an eye on tonight.

Charlotte's role in NXT has been reducing gradually since she lost her NXT Women's Championship a few months ago, and the rumor is she will be called up to the main roster shortly. Will the daughter of Ric Flair appear tonight, or will she remain absent?

As always, check back with MStars immediately after the show for a full recap of all the action. But for now, let us know your thoughts, opinions, guesses, and predictions for tonight's show in the comments section.

In case you missed it, here are the results of last week's show:

Owens comes out to start the show and gets some boos. He talks about Zayn's saving Alex Riley last week, and William Regal eventually comes out. The General Manager says the NXT Champion does not get to just use the show to further his own goals. Zayn comes out, but Regal stops him and says this will not turn into a brawl like last week.

Regal says this is the easiest decision he's ever made and books Zayn against Owens for the title at the next NXT Takeover special on May 20. Owens is upset that it's a title match because Zayn doesn't deserve it and all he's done is attack people from behind. Zayn grabs the mic and says Owens' entire career will have an asterisk with the words "Sami Zayn" next to it. He says he fights for a prize, and that prize is the NXT Championship.

Backstage, Enzo Amore, Big Cass, and Carmella argue, as the female says she can take care of herself and tells them to leave. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy arrive, and the NXT Tag Team Champions hit on her. Carmella dismiss them, as well. Alexa Bliss then shows up and the two bicker for a bit. Carmella smacks her and the tag champs comfort Alexa.

Sami Zayn is signing a contract with Regal backstage when Alex Riley walks in and demands another match with Owens. Zayn says he will need a good warmup and the two have a match set for later tonight.

Big Cass and Enzo Amore defeat Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy in a non-title match with their usual finisher.

In a backstage promo, Becky Lynch discusses what the NXT Women's Championship means to her and guarantees she will be the next champ. Bayley gets interviewed but she is upset because she cannot find her shirt or headbands for her match. She leaves, and we see Emma has her gear.

Dana Brooke defeats Bayley when Emma comes out to Bayley's music wearing her stolen gear. Dana uses the distraction to hit a fireman's carry driver for the win. She high fives Emma on her way backstage.

William Regal announces that the contracts have been signed for the next Takeover, and he also says there will be a Triple Threat Match to name the new No. 1 Contender among Hideo Itami, Finn Balor, and Tyler Breeze.

Itami defeats Adam Rose with his usual non-GTS finisher.

Becky Lynch defeats Sarah Dobson with a modified Fujiwara armbar.

Rhyno is backstage and says Baron Corbin still has a few things to learn. Rhyno calls himself the past, present, and future.

Sami Zayn defeats Alex Riley by disqualification with Kevin Owens on commentary, and he is as sarcastic as could be. Owens attacks Zayn to cause the DQ, then picks up Riley and powerbombs him onto the ring apron. He holds the NXT Championship belt over Zayn's prone body and laughs as the show goes off the air.
