'Mad Men' Season 7: Ep 13: 'The Milk and Honey Route' Recap: Will Jon Hamm's Don Draper Lose Betty?

The final episodes of Season 7 from the critically acclaimed Mad Men continue on AMC. In episode 13, are Don Draper (Jon Hamm), Roger Sterling (John Slattery), and Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks) ready to start with their new lives in 'The Milk and Honey Route?'

Don is still driving late at night, listening to the radio. After getting pulled over by the cops, Don realizes he was dreaming and wakes up. His past is catching up with him. 

Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) looks after his daughter after she gets a bee sting. Trudy (Alison Brie) has a subtle argument with her friend about pitting Pete against his daughter. Don talks to Sally (Kiernan Shipka) on the phone and finds out she's into sports at her school. In college, Betty (January Jones) is having a difficult time going up the stairs and trips. 

In the elevator, Pete meets with Duck, who's supposed to replace Don. Duck is offering him an account if he helps him get a job. Duck leaves and Pete shuts ht door on his secretary. In the middle of the road, Don's car shuts down. 

At the hospital, Betty gets a scare from the doctor. Don settles in at a motel as Pete has a business dinner, realizing he was tricked by Duck into a job interview. Betty realizes her cancer has advanced; which means she might only have a year to live. 

Realizing the place is dry without alcohol, Don notices a striking woman by the pool and jumps into the water. Duck keeps pushing Pete to sign with another company. At home, Henry (Christopher Stanley) is trying his best to find the right doctors for her. Betty hasn't even told the children yet about her prognosis. 

Pete puts his daughter to sleep, wondering  about his future with Trudy. After his TV goes out, Don sets up the typewriter for the hotel manager. Pete needs a favor from Trudy, to pretend to be with him at a client's dinner.  Trudy doesn't want to go because she remembers being unhappy in the past. 

Henry visits Sally at her dorm, telling her the serious news about her mother. Sally is unable to deal with the news about the lung cancer. She doesn't know what to say to her mother. Henry bursts into tears, wondering what he should do.

Henry brings Sally home from school, but Betty doesn't want to speak with her. After some persuasion, Don heads out to the fundraiser with the hotel manager. Pete visits his brother and ask for advice; they're always looking for something better, something else.

At the fundraiser, Don listens to the old wartime stores and meets with someone who fought in Korea. The crowd cheers after the stripper is brought in. Pete has to deal with a drunk Duck, who's gotten him a ridiculous job offer, and kicks him out. With the war veterans, Don reveals he killed his CO, blew him apart, and got to go home. 

Sally doesn't want Betty to give up. Betty fought her whole life, but she knows when to move on. She leaves Sally with instructions because Henry won't be able to handle it. Don gets beaten up by old war vets, who think he stole their money from the fundraiser. 

Pete visits Trudy, telling him about his new job offer. He wants her back and be his family again. Trudy though says things can't be undone. Pete has always loved her and wants her to run away with him. Trudy breaks down, nods, and kisses him.

Don realizes it was the maid who stole the money and gets the cash back. He leaves with the maid and gets in the car. As Betty goes back to school, Sally reads her letter, telling where she wants to be buried and what to wear. Betty knows Sally will be ready for the future. 

Don gives the car keys to the thief, telling him not to waste his second chance.
